Internet marketing has been sweeping the web. The more advertisers realize the near limitless boundaries of the world wide web, the more drawn they are to the idea of advertising in a medium that allows them to expand beyond their local or even national reaches, and gives them the ability, if they wish to reach the base of public knowledge on a global scale.

Advertising techniques

With the ever expanding innovation of the internet and its users, advertisers have a lot of spots to choose from to place their ads. Many have chosen to utilize online blogs as their key medium for marketing of their product or service. A beneficial strategy on several fronts, blog advertising has garnered further and further popularity, leading some to establish public blogs where freelance writers contribute material, while advertisers utilize their entries in order to garner interest from blog visitors. This makes blog advertising a symbiotic relationship between the blogger and the marketer. The blogger earns a small portion of revenue for every time an advertisement is accessed off their blog, and blog advertisers therefore only pay knowing that someone clicked on their advertisement. So there is revenue for one party, exposure and opportunity for future revenue for the other.

Blog advertising has garnered further and further popularity

Blog advertising is also beneficial in that it allows the advertisers to key in on a niche market. Scouring the web for blog entries that are related to a product, a type of product or service, even if in a loosely related way, gives the advertiser an opportunity to find perfect locations to place their ads. Logically speaking, if someone accesses a blog with the interest of reading about a product or service, the reader may also be interested in exploring the opportunity to inquire further, invest in or purchase the advertised product. The reader does not need to go looking for information, as it will be readily available via a click of a mouse.

Blog advertisement is also easy to expand. Let’s say there is a blog with an entry about a certain product, or a blog geared towards discussion of this product, and an advertiser has placed an ad, but the reader has overlooked it. Now let’s say that this blog has links to other blogs which might be related to the same product discussions. An advertiser can follow these links and inquire about having their ads being placed on these blogs as well. If the interested reader bypassed the initial encounter with the ad, there is now a pretty good chance that the advertisement from the same marketer will be encountered again as the reader continues their blog cruise.

Posting a back link to a blog that contains an advertisement in the comment section of another, related blog, is another blog advertising strategy. Almost every blog will have an available comment section which encourages user feedback to the blogger’s entry. Someone scrolling through the comments, may be interested to visit the linked blog, allowing the blogger and advertiser to get even more exposure to their blog and ad, respectively.

But what if the advertiser has a product or service that they want to push knowledge of out beyond just a specific niche market? Blog marketing is especially strategic in this area since most blog writers want to attract readers, so the blogger is well served by promoting their blog on social networking sites. This opens up the access to even more people who can be exposed to knowledge about an advertiser’s product. Now the exposure to the advertisement increases incrementally, or even exponentially.

A street in china full of Ads

There is another factor that many would not mention, but equally as many would agree with. Blog advertisement is plain and simply immensely less annoying to anyone surfing the web. Accessing a site which has a bunch of pop up ads, or long loading advertisements that one may be forced to wait for before getting to what they really care about seeing, is usually a nuisance. Over imposing advertising is usually a good way to turn a potentially interested party away. Blog advertising typically allows for ads to be placed strategically around the blog without serving as an irritating interference, thereby driving down the chances of sending readers surfing off to another web locale.

Keeping track of advertising clicks allows the marketer to measure just how well blog marketing works? If an advertiser is working more closely with the blogger, the two may share information and determine the rate at which readers visit the blog, and at what rate they show interest to ads by clicking on them.

The overall benefits of blog advertising cannot be argued.

Advertisers receive a forum that reaches many, and provided by a willing host who is likely someone who is interested in having the ad available to his or her readers, and will draw profit for advertising a product for someone else. The innovation of how blogs are used for blog advertisement continues. Before long, more ideas will spawn about how to make this strategy an even more effective resource for all parties involved.

Blog advertising is the newest way to make money with your blog. Almost everyone now understands just what a blog is. But not many people know what blog advertising happens to be.

So what is a blog? It is important to understand this term before you can understand just what blog advertising is. A blog gets its name from “web log”, or an online Internet diary of sorts. It started out that simple- people set up personal blogs to write about their lives, and share with friends, family, and other interested Internet users. Blogging has since evolved into something much more for millions of people who start up their own blog.

Blogging is easy, because there are many different sites that allow their users to set up a blog for free. It is a way to have your own Internet space, allowing either your own private friends and family or the whole world to see what you are about. A blog may be used for just personal reasons. However, many people have realized that a blog is a great way to advertise and earn money in the process.

So what is blog advertising? It is as simple as the name implies. Many people who run a blog have realized that there is the ability to make money with their blog. Blog advertising refers to the advertisements that are posted on the pages of the blog. These have been around for years, such as in the banners that are run at the top page of a blog, or around the sides of the postings.

The sale of text links soon took off when many different bloggers realized that they could use the sale of text links on their personal blog as a way to make money. Post sponsorship is the new thing for bloggers to participate in now. When the blogger makes a post, they will target certain key words and phrases that are geared toward a certain advertiser.

A post that is sponsored may be written just for a certain advertiser. These may be of different products, reviews, or other websites. Often, the owner of the blog simply writes their posts the way they normally do, but briefly mention the sponsor that they are endorsing.

When trying to figure out what is blog advertising, many people than ask the next appropriate question. What sells well on a blog? What ads work the best? The focus of a blog is on a person, and the blog has to connect well with its readers.

Advertising with a blog requires the blogger to pick a creative way to get their viewers to check out their ads. Images work well on blogs, or a text that makes one think. Colorful and catchy images can help those advertising on a blog, as can moving text. One way that it is not recommended is looping ads, which experts say can distract and annoy readers of the blog. A blog advertisement also works quite well when it looks like it is part of the blogs content to begin with.

Although blogging is nothing new to the world of the Internet, many people are trying to find out all they can on what is blog advertising. The next step to blog advertising is making money with your ads. For this, you will need to generate as much visitor traffic as you can.

The first way to do this is to advertise your blog. As long as you have good advertising skills, you’re blog advertisements can be successful. Search engine optimization is the phrase heard most often when speaking of blog advertising, otherwise known as SEO. When you have a blog, it should contain keywords that are relevant to the content of what you write about. Your html tags should also contain all the important keywords that describe what your blog is about, especially if you have your own domain. This way, search engines will pick up and rank your blog much quicker, thus bringing in more traffic.

Those who wonder what is blog advertising and how to make the most out of it know about backlinks. A backlink is what other websites post on their forums, or blogs, and users who click on it get sent back to your blog. You can best get backlinks out by submitting your blogs to different article directories and give out a link that goes to your blog when clicked. You will get automatic backlinks this way, thus bringing in more traffic to your blog.

When you have accomplished these steps, you will see what is blog advertising at its finest. The next step is to make sure that your blog is always updated so that you stay ranked highly in the search engines. Since new web content is always being looked for by popular search engines, the best way to stay current is to update your blog regularly. Besides, everyone wants to read new stuff everyday, so you will not want to disappoint your valued readers.

Finally, when you believe there is enough content on your blog, you can start using social bookmarking sites to submit your blog to. You want to make sure you have plenty of information, posts and advertisements to keep your visitors reading and coming back for more. Then, you will see what is blog advertising at its best, and generate income with your own personal blog.

The blogosphere is overtaking all of us. Today, with millions of bloggers and hundreds of millions of blog entries on any topic you’d want to read about, it’s apparent that whatever you want to market not only has an audience in the blogosphere, but a target audience, at that.

The better question than why advertise on a blog might actually be, why not?

Consider These Benefits

Blog forums are filled with folks who share some common interest. These are folks who love to speak out because they can offer up a candid opinion while they hide behind a screen name. This can give rise to interesting, sometimes useful discussions that are launched by the blogs themselves within the social networks that accompany them. A reader’s interest in your product or your service can be just the right momentary distraction for a blog reader, if your target audience and blog forum culture that supports it have been thoroughly explored.

Blog readers are the perfect vehicle for creating buzz among like-minded folks who share an interest in one thing or another. And buzz can launch a concept, product, or idea to a point beyond your wildest expectations. If one’s marketing campaign is the cake itself, buzz is the icing on the top.

Where else can you examine your own potential audience thoroughly, participate in their discussion, get to know them maybe better than you need to, and test the waters for compatibility with your own ideas, concepts, products and/or services, and thereby project the outcome of your marketing so thoroughly in advance?

Where else can you become intimately familiar with the sensibility of your audience and the very specific interests that they share?

Remember, too, that bloggers and blog-readers are more likely to communicate with friends and on-line pals when they run across something that piques their interest on the internet. It’s just a click or two to forward something to a friend who might also want to take a peek. What a great way to stir up interest in your product or your service or, if nothing else, expand your potential audience through someone else’s effort.

Do Your Own Market Research

A quick search for “blog forums” turns up more than 56 million links. So, narrow that search to those that suit your specialty. Check out some of them and find out how they’re organized and categorized. Bear in mind the blogs that rise to the top of the search engines will be keyed to do just that. In any case, it probably won’t take more than five minutes tops to locate categories (indexed for your convenience) that relate to your own marketing interests.

A cursory scan of any blog will tell you if the blog or forum accepts advertising and, if so, how to investigate it. Spend some time checking out associated discussions to be sure the blog culture provides fertile territory for the audience you seek. Investigate their avenue for feedback and find out how to access their discussions. How much forum interchange is really taking place?

Look into blogs about related or periphery interests, too. If you’re selling real estate to first-time home owners, then look for apartment-living blogs and their links to discussion forums and advertising opportunities.

If you find the sheer volume of blogs is too much to sort through, then try topical discussion forums and work backwards from there into blogs participants mention, discuss, and link to.

Look for blogs and discussion forums that focus on marketing approaches. Get to know how others identify the best blogs to place their advertising. At least, marketing colleagues may help point you in the right direction to sift through blogs and blog forums that could suit your needs.

Blog Advertising in Soundbites

Once you’ve settled on the place to run your Blog Advertising, consider available tools of the trade to capture notice on those blogs where you choose to advertise. Don’t clutter up your space too much. Instead, provide a simple link to extended text on your own blog or website.

Try creating a mini-blog ad where text or picture changes over the days you’ve contracted to run your ad. Give folks a reason to check you out more than once. Give them a tidbit that’s worth savoring and invite them back for more.

Make your blog ad specific to the blog culture that surrounds your ad. Search for “Blog Advertising” to find tips on ads that resonate, and consider those that make an impression on you, as well.

And while you’re at it, check out the worst blog advertising (yes, you can Google it). Find out what makes folks think it’s the worst, and avoid similar mistakes.

Create Your Own Blog Opportunities

Your own blog serves to enhance your website presence and provides an opportunity for reciprocal advertising of products and services that are peripheral to the one you aim to sell yourself.

A blog on administrative support services might advertise various products associated with a well organized, productive office. Think about alliances that pay off in reciprocal arrangements.

There are endless possibilities for blog advertising. Use your ideas and interests to harness its capacity for focusing the visibility of your product or your service squarely on YOUR market.

Why advertise on a blog, indeed. The benefits of blog advertising are limited only by your own imagination.

For all you bloggers out there, some days you may wonder why you are spending all this time writing online if you are not getting paid for it. Some people seem to be able to make tons of money from their blog sites, but for most people that just isn’t happening. So what is the secret to the blogger who makes money?

Well, blog advertising is one of the easiest ways to get started making money through your blog. What is blog advertising? Actually, there are several different types of blog advertising. A cautionary note: not all forms of blog advertising may be right for your blog. For maximum results, several different types of advertising should be used.

There are at least six different ways to utilize blog advertising. You may be thinking, “What is blog advertising going to do for me?” Well, the main thing that blog advertising will do for you is bring in money. Of course, the more people you have visit your site the better your income will be, but that is another topic. The six basic types of blog advertising are: text link ads, affiliate ads, reviews, direct ads, contextual ads, and impression-based ads. There are a lot of resources for any of the types of advertising listed here. Just search for them online and see what comes up. Of course, not all types of ads are going to be available to use all the time. Sometimes it just takes luck to get certain opportunities.

So what is blog advertising for text link ads? Text link ads are ads that you place directly in your blog posts. Say you are talking about how you got lost driving to a friend’s house the other day. You could feasibly insert a text link ad for a GPS system. See, it’s easy!

Affiliate ads are probably the most well-know form of blog advertising. You sign up to be a part of an affiliate program, and they place different ads on your site. Usually this form of advertising on blogs is a pay-per-action or pay-per-sale form of payout. I will talk more about that later.

What is blog advertising with reviews? Reviews are pretty self-explanatory. A company will pay you to blog about their product and review it. Usually they want the reviews to be positive. It would be a little silly for a company to pay someone to write a bad review about them.

Direct ads are where you, the blogger, offer space on your site for your visitors to advertise. Usually some amount of web design experience is necessary for this advertising method, as well as a large amount of visitors.

Contextual ads are similar to affiliate ads. Contextual ads, however, are usually paid on a pay-per-click basis. The ads, as the name suggests, are related to the topics discussed in the blog.

Impression-based ads are ads that pay a certain amount for every time they appear on a person’s blog site. This would be the virtual equivalent of a billboard ad in the real world.

So now that you have a basic idea about what is blog advertising, let’s talk about payment methods. There are three main ways that bloggers can usually get paid for advertising on their sites. There is pay-per-click, pay-per-impression, and pay-per-action.

Pay-per-click will pay you a small amount any time someone clicks on that ad on your page. Pay-per-impression pays for every time the ad appears on your page, and pay-per-action pays for each time someone does an action related to the ad on your page. This is usually something like buying a product, filling out a survey, or signing up for e-mails.

What about you bloggers? What kind of advertising did you use for your blog monetization? What about paid reviews?
